Aerosmith Forced To Cancel Show In Turkey Due To Tragedy

Aerosmith were forced to cancel their recent show in Istanbul, Turkey due to a tragic mining accident in the nearby town of Soma in which at least 200 local miners were killed and hundreds more were trapped after an explosion occurred in the mine.

"My heartfelt prayers go out to those who have died, those who are still trapped and their families," lead singer Steven Tyler said in a statement. "We are holding the people of Turkey close to our hearts and respecting the three days of mourning for a saddened nation."

"I feel profound sorrow for the workers and their families who have been killed or injured in this terrible disaster," lead guitarist Joe Perry also said in a statement. "As soon as I heard the news, I called my wife in America and me and my family's hearts and prayers go out to the families and workers who were killed or injured. Words can't express the sorrow that we feel."

The show, set to take place at the Istanbul Technical University, was supposed to be the first the band had ever played in that country.
