Paul McCartney Leaves Tokyo Hospital

Following cancelations of two Tokyo shows due to illness, Paul McCartney has been released from a local hospital. A statement from the shows' organizer said that Paul subsequently left the country on a chartered plane and hopes to reschedule the dates soon.

"Since contracting a virus last week that led to the postponement of tour dates, Paul received successful medical treatment at a hospital in Tokyo," said Macca's reps after the cancellations were initially announced.

"He will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days' rest. Paul has been extremely moved by all the messages and well wishes he has received from fans all over the world."

McCartney is scheduled to begin a U.S. tour on June 14, which runs 18 dates and wraps at Candlestick Park stadium in San Francisco, the site of the Beatles' final public show in 1966.
