Jefferson Airplane Planning Trippy Merchandising Campaign

Jefferson Airplane is planning a psychedelic merchandising campaign, which is comprised of trippy items to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary in 2015.

This collection to be made available next year includes items, such as "buttons, incense, stickers, decals and metal jewelry" and more expensive steals, like "handbags, scarves, T-shirts, tops, sleepwear and other accessories, home décor, stationery/paper goods, collectibles, gifts and novelty and publishing."

Licensing agency Epic Rights is launching the campaign that is based around the band's "free your head" image and is also inspired by the recent legalization of marijuana in parts of the U.S.

"It's the baby boomers now in their mid-60s, and a lot of the younger people who are part of the revival of interest in this culture," said the company's CEO, Fell Furano. "Everything vintage is hot at retail."

The band's manager, Bill Thompson, has also been in recent talks to potentially re-release some of the band's LPs.
