A new eight-part miniseries chronicling the history of The Beatles is currently being produced for NBC.
Deadline Hollywood reports that the series is being written and executive-produced by Michael Hirst, who is perhaps best known as the creator and executive producer of Showtime's The Tudors. Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg will also produce. It is also said that NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt has given the project his blessing.
In the past there have been very attempts to tell the story of the Fab Four onscreen. Michael Winterbottom is developing a project called The Longest Cocktail Party, and Peyton Reed was attached to a biopic of Beatles manager Brian Epstein entitled the Fifth Beatle, which had been granted access to the John Lennon/Paul McCartney music catalog.
