Abbey Road in Westminster may get a crossing guard, as the famous crosswalk is inundated with tourists looking to get their pics snapped walking across the road - just like the Beatles on the cover of their Abbey Road LP.
"Local Abbey Road ward councilors raised their residents' concerns about the number of tourists spilling into the road and traffic near the crossing at the height of the summer season, and put forward various suggestions, asking the city council to review pedestrian safety and crowd management," one city rep told the BBC.
"I've seen huge double-decker buses parking on double yellow lines right outside the studio, causing total chaos to traffic and causing danger to people trying to get their photograph. It would be good to have somebody there permanently," said another official.
The Beatles were shot crossing Abbey Road in 1969.
